can you feel the love tonight

POSTED ON: Monday, 31 March 2014 @ 09:21 | 0 comments

I have nothing to rant/ explain/ post today,
because I am as tired as a punctured tire (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)

today after dip plus, I was talking to Yan on the bus
somehow we were talk about desperation and the situations that we have no control in
and somehow some topics lead to another
and I had a legit existential crisis when I reached home

my brain is now too fried up for me to cook up anything nice to post today (SEE WHAT I DID THERE AGAIN?)
so I shall just leave this song for you

am I being too emotional?
am I being desperate?
who are you
who am I
why am I alive
why am I behaving like that
why are other people's norms not my norms
what am I typing
is this even real life?

Here's a post about nothing much, really~

the thing bout life is this - things will always fall under expectations, and you will feel disappointed and sad
just now, I felt disappointed cause things did not go along as I had expected
//tries to wipe away those fantasies I had before
ohwell, the point is to have fun, and that is all!
I just want everybody to have fun

one thing to take away from the 'little disappointment' I had just now is this:
What's yours will ultimately be yours
You don't need to desperate and try to grasp hold of something that isn't yours (yet?)
just let things flow naturally
and see where life take you to
sometimes it's fine not to have minute-to-minute plans
sometimes it's fine just letting nature take it's course without you worrying

the person that you'd take a bullet for is behind the trigger
well..
maybe it is okay to take that bullet sometimes. it may not kill you, but it will definitely make you stronger

done with this

POSTED ON: Saturday, 29 March 2014 @ 03:45 | 0 comments

I'm done, I shall wash my hands off things before anything become too complicated
I am neutral
I just wanna do my own thing
and think for the best for everybody
maybe I should just keep quiet

I thought by the time I've come to this age
these things won't happen anymore
come'on, we're 18 already
isn't it a little too childish to play this game?

today I went for lunch with some friends from secondary school
we were chatting and being mournful about "how old we are now"
and slowly we talked about stuff we've been facing in school/ personal lives
and I'm a little shocked that childish political issues are still happening to people around me
isn't it better to talk things out and settle things once and for all, and be mature adults?
but I guess I'm not part of the situation, so I don't know the root causes for these issues
hope my friends will have a better time in their school life!

maybe some people just needs to think more openly
(and maybe grow up)

[this song is a little ironic, isn't it]
what I feel is that it is okay to be forever young
but it is not okay to be immature

the void of emptiness inside

POSTED ON: Friday, 28 March 2014 @ 10:34 | 0 comments

I've been thinking for the past few nights
what does love mean to me?
what is the meaning of love?
and to be honest, I have yet to find my answer
(when I find my answer, I'll post it here)

but meanwhile, I've read about many other people's definition of love
and I quite like this person's definition
(I don't have the person's credits or something, so if you are the author for this text, do drop me a PM and I'll credit you!)

Dear future lover,
I hope our love is the kind that I don't even have to think about. I hope I never have to convince myself to love any certain part of you because I hope it all comes naturally. I hope our love is the kind that is quiet on the outside but loud on the inside. I want to love you like the space between lightning and thunder - electrified and alive but silent and knowing. And I want you to love me like the clouds love the rain. You're going to let me go on my own sometimes, but I will always come back and we will always be two parts of the same thing. - Marianna Paige

no matter what my answer may be for love,
there'll always be one definite answer:
Love is looking at the person, and knowing that no explanation is required for you to love him/her

here's another (a more lengthy) definition of love

Growing up I always thought true love was red roses, dates on Saturday nights, little block box that held expensive things, and always knowing what to say, I thought true love was a kiss in the rain, deep explanations, and the perfect story. But now that I'm older I've realised it's not like that at all.

See because true love for me is ugly snapchats, and peeing while you're on the phone. True love is kissing at 6am despite the morning breath and singing at the top of your lungs. It's saying all the wrong things, at all the wrong moments. It's sarcasm and being honest even when it hurts. It's late hours of the night when it's been a long day and it's no make up and bad hair. It's tears from laughter, it's tears from sadness and it's nothing like any storybook you've ever read. It's never running out of things to talk about, and it's being comfortable in the silence of things. True love is watching The Titanic though you swore you never would. It's getting mad over stupid things. It's "you're an idiot," and "you're a little shit", and knowing you're so lucky to hear those every day. It's spilling your feelings at 4am when you should be asleep. It's that song you hear on the radio that always makes you smile. It's the worst story you could imagine, but thank god it worked out anyways. True love is never losing the magic. True love is not leaving when things get hard.

I like my definition better anyways.

throughout this 6 months
the feeling I get every time I see you never failed to give my heart a skip
the feeling I get every day I don't get to see you makes me miss you so much more
you appeared in my life so abruptly, and changed the mindset I had on things
people asked me, "why do you like that guy?"
and my answer is always "I don't know. Because it's him"
it's probably because you're all I've ever asked for, and more
and for that, I thank you
I thank you for being born and alive
I thank you for coming into my life
I thank you for giving me hope (and all other strong emotions I don't think I've ever felt before)

not sure how I will manage school without what I'm used to previously
not sure how things will turn out
not sure of anything

Please beware of your own safety on buses

POSTED ON: Thursday, 27 March 2014 @ 06:06 | 0 comments

Today I had a fairly traumatic experience on the bus (on the way to school)
I was sitting at my usual spot on the bus, and sleeping (quite) soundly
at first I didn't notice anything,
until suddenly, a guy from my back hit my shoulders and shouted "wake up! the guy beside you is trying to molest you!"
can you imagine the shock, horror and (most of all) blurness that I felt at that moment?
then just when I was trying to consolidate my thoughts and make sense of the sitation,
the guy beside me stood up hurridly, took his briefcase and shouted "crazy fellow!" at the guy behind me, before he ran down the bus stairs and off the bus

i felt so horrified at what was happening, so I turned behind me and looked at the guy behind me
the kind soul looked at me pitifully and just said "next time don't sleep on the bus alone okay?"
I am indebt to the kind soul behind me who caught the pervert just in time, before anything happened
the bus was quite near school when this spine-trembling thing happened
and for like 10 minutes I just sat on the bus, in shock, unsure of what to make out of the situation and trying to make sense of it

Even though I tried to calm myself down, I kept thinking,
"what if the kind soul didn't catch the pervert in time?
how would I react?
why was I so silly as to be so sound asleep, until I didn't even notice a guy trying to molest me?
what if the kind soul saw everything and did nothing to stop the pervert?"

when I reached school, I was kinda still in shock, until I met Yan and she tried to calm me down
it was a traumatic experience
and I'm pretty sure I won't be sleeping on the bus (at least, not without any friends around me) anymore

it's queer how the strangest things can happen to me
am I such a strange being that I'll attract the strangest things to happen to me?

the moral of this post (and the life lesson that I've learnt today) is that even if you think Singapore is safe, it actually isn't really 100% safe.
low crime doesn't mean no crime
to all out there, (sadly) especially girls, please be mindful of your surroundings when you're out in the public
and to my friends who take 74 to school (or anybody actually),
please please please be careful of any strange guys who are trying to take advantage of you
the pervert(s) are still out there, and I sincerely don't want anything to happen to any of you
and try not to sleep alone on the bus, even if you're damn tired

I've got no one but myself to keep me safe

2nd Diploma Plus

POSTED ON: Tuesday, 25 March 2014 @ 09:49 | 0 comments

Tomorrow is the start of my second diploma plus - Certificate in Business
to be very honest, even though I've told everybody that I'm confident in this diploma, I feel very worried and scared inside
this diploma plus (for ECH and CPEE students) is structured such that it only has lessons during the holidays, and we'll need to go for lessons from 10am to 4pm consecutively for a week or two
that means assignments everyday
from tomorrow onwards till 3rd April, I'll need to come back home, and start doing an assignment that is to be handed in the very next day
for me, I think it'll be very difficult to hand in quality assignments in such a structure
that's because I am the type of person who needs time to digest the information, to be able to give quality work; and half a day to do assignments simply isn't enough..

additionally, I feel very scared because I've heard from someone that getting good results in this diploma is DAMN hard
and even though I said "as long as I pass, it'll be good",
but come'on, one will want to get the best grade right?
what if I am not cut out for this diploma plus?
what if I flunk this?
it sure would be good to have someone to give me details and insights of Certificate in Business
like how is it like, is it difficult, what type of assignments are there
I feel so unprepared for this, and honestly I'm starting to panic now
//breathe in breathe out

very recently, I've been informed by my school that I'm one of the lucky 20 who has been chosen to participate in some pre-university seminar/ camp at RI and NUS
I'm damn happy to be chosen, because (refer to the post on 27 Feb) I'm very very interested in knowing more about the university choices we (students from poly) have
and more so because this seminar/camp is held in NUS, a school I've been wanting to enrol into since a long time ago
although I'm very excited for this seminar/camp, I feel very out-of-the-place and awkward to be going with total strangers
I know that stepping out of my comfort zone is a good thing (and trust me, I've been pushing myself regularly and consistantly)
so I agreed and signed up for this seminar/camp
hope I'll have a good time, and I'll learn more about how to get into NUS! //determination

i just want more time to spend with you, cause the few times that we actually meet are too short a time to know you better
gdi why are you so perfect

Meeting, and a good dinner

POSTED ON: Monday, 24 March 2014 @ 10:08 | 0 comments

short post
cause I just wanna document today in a blog post

after just two hours of sleep, I woke up at 8am today
I could've slept longer, but I was feeling too nervous for the HOT meeting in the afternoon
I was discussing with Yan, and she agrees with me: we're always too (unnecessarily) nervous before any HOT meetings
I felt the need to organise my schedules and prepare for the meeting,
so I spent like 2 hours planning out (sorta) my schedule for the year
then I spent some time in preparing for the meeting
it felt good to be able to control my timeline and schedules, and to feel in control and prepared haha!

then in the afternoon I met up with Yan and we headed down to school together
[side note: slow buses are officially my pet peeves]
we had the meeting
and after the meeting, I kinda feel mad at myself
cause I realised that I didn't even ask for others' opinions before I took out my laptop and assume that I'll be the one typing notes
it didn't occur to me that I should've asked the others, and that's a big oversight on my part //knocks head on the wall
omg what if it makes people think "omg what is this girl doing why is she assuming the role of taking down the notes, even before asking others? is she trying to impress anybody?"
damn :( I'm so sorry, to whoever who feels offended by my actions ><

next, we went down to a nearby cafe(?) to have dinner
I was actually not hungry at all, and felt a little nauseated
but silly me continued to order a full set meal
and in the end I could only eat a mouthful of the pasta, before I passed my food to the guys (sorry guys! and thank you for helping me clear my food! 100 karma points for you)
after the meal, we started talking - it was an interesting and fun time filled with loads of laughters haha!
then we play card games
(side note: guess who sucks at card games. 10 points for guessing me)
it's kinda cool to learn about the rules of the card games
although I'll be honest, I will most probably forget the card game rules I've learnt today soon
//laughs

then I took the bus home with Yan, Kevin and Ben
it's always nice to hang out with them, because I'll always end up laughing most of the time
:)

I belong with you
you belong with me
you're my sweetheart

Introducing, The Sam Willows! (featuring Nate Tao)

POSTED ON: Sunday, 23 March 2014 @ 11:15 | 0 comments

Local Talent
those two words usually makes Singaporeans cringe with embarrassment
especially since many locals have this mindset that "talents from Singapore can't be compared to talents from other countries"
I gotta admit, I had this mindset too; I had little faith in Singapore's Art Scene
but that was before I got to know The Sam Willows (underline bold italic for effect)

I got to know them last year in June, when they were performing on the same stage as other youtubers (Madilyn Bailey, Tanner Patrick, Zendee, Nate Tao and 38 Years Ago)
[side note: this concert was the first concert that I've ever been to, and it will always be the most memorable one]
Although during the concert they didn't perform all their songs
but during the concert it became very evident that they perform excellently live on stage
the harmonies
the up-beats and slow rhythms
the vibe they give out
it was all totally awesome!
The poster from last year's meet and greet
I got their autographs, are you envious? //laughs

The one song that got me hooked to their music was Glasshouse (refer to previous post)
and one song led to another
I listened to their youtube covers and watched their travelling videos and behind the scenes vids
I got their EP
Their EP - go get it btw, it is damn nice

I got their merch (from their fundraiser for their Glasshouse lillywhite edition production)

and I now daresay that they are one of my fav. bands ever!

two days ago, I came across their instagram and twitter 'contest' for a Secret Shhhow //wooo secret shhhh
and i tweeted to them, to enter the contest, with the mindset of "omg so many people tweet to them, my chances to win the 'contest' is so slim!"
and the next day
I GOT THEIR PM!
(and btw I got a very fangirl moment when they followed me on twitter, like omgg?????!)

so today I went down to Rockstar by Soon Lee (at orchard) with Ben
and I got a big surprise when I found out that Nate Tao was to be there too!
We got into the boutique shop
and settled down for the gig

I can't fully explain how I felt throughout the two hours
but I'll try
for months, I could only listen to TSW's songs from my phone/ computer
their studio recorded songs gave me good vibes and feelings
but when I heard them live again, playing the same songs I always listen to on my phone
it was a whole new experiences
cause now I was actually sitting in front of them, and they were playing just for us
the vibe is completely different, because it was live
I could see them, and they could see us
I could sing along with them, sway along/ bob my head along to their music
I could smile and laugh with them, and be entertained by their cute and funny side-comments
I could even wave to them!
the goosebumps I got when listening to Nightlight
the inner-rocker resisting the urge to stand up and start jumping when listening to Glasshouse/ Riverdance
the vibe of relax when listening to their other songs
and the excitedness when Nate Tao and TSW sang together
it was all real and true and it was amazing

I didn't manage to get a lot of photos/videos cause I wanted to concentrate on their performance
but here's some pictures of today
Spot Sandra!

haha Nate what are you doing?

d'awwwww!

Then I stayed for a little while to catch a picture with them
(side note: omg why are they so glam while I'm so unglam omg)

a little poster from today!

all in all, I enjoyed myself so much today <3
Thanks so much to TSW and Nate Tao for having this wonderful opportunity to hang around and perform for a small group of us
go support them guys!
they sound so nice, both on videos, and in live performances!
(okay that was an understatement, they sound amazing live!)

sidenote:
Rockstar by Soon Lee is a boutique shop that sells such pretty clothes/shoes!
go check their website out / their instagram
I've always walked past their shop on the streets and thought 'omg when I have money I'll definitely come and have a shopping spree here'
their style is so pretty / kinda a little pastel-floral-hipster kind
go check them out too!

This is my favourite TSW song
Nightlight
listen to it, and be touched by the lyrics

my precious jems

POSTED ON: Saturday, 22 March 2014 @ 08:37 | 0 comments

this three girls are the precious jems in my treasure chest filled with silver coins
picture from the lunch date on thursday
we are such different girls who miraculously became best friends //smiles brightly
each of us have our own lives (cause all of us are in [sorta] different schools)
but nonetheless we always find time to meet up, catch up, talk, and do stuff (be it eating/jamming etc.)
I admit, sometimes it's a little hard to find a time where everybody is free (cause all of us are damn busy)
but it only makes the time we spend together more precious and meaningful!
I am honestly only myself when I'm with them, and I love them to the moon and back <3

our band has been on hiatus for more than 5 months
and the next day we are all free for filming is in June
it kinda sucks that we have to be in hiatus (cause none of us wants that at all)
but I hope during June we'll successfully get things geared up again, and after Jia's As, we'll be back on track
we might have lost our temporary burning passion, but the flame is not out yet!
and pretty soon, it will become a firework //determination is key

sidenote: I got chosen by The Sam Willows to go to their ShhSecret show tomorrow! (:
Ting hasn't replied yet, so I still don't know who I'll be going with ><
worst case scenario, I'll go my own? hmmm
but YAY I am SO excited!
^^
The Sam Willows, (probably) the best local band!
this music vid of their original song, Glasshouse, is one of the best music vids I've ever seen
can you actually believe that they are from Singapore?
local talent bringing faith to Singapore's art scene
damn love them can ohmy

Say you love me yeaaaa

for shit's sake

POSTED ON: Wednesday, 19 March 2014 @ 08:40 | 0 comments

I know i'm going to hell for being such an unfilial daughter
I've not spoken a word to my father for more than a month
and believe me, this whole month had been hellish
I've kept myself locked inside my room
I've kept quiet
I've kept my way
I admit, for the first 20 days, it seemed reasonable that I was not talking to him - of course it was reasonable! he was being rude and unreasonable and batshat crazy, if I may add!
but after the first 20 or so days, it just seems sad
it just proves that our relationship has gotten to a point of ice-thin breaking moment
now, it's not that I don't wanna talk to him
heck
I'm no longer angry anymore, and I don't think he is too
but the point is this: we no longer have anything to talk about
nothing
and that's just sad

no matter how angry I am
I know that I'll always be his daughter, and nothing I do can change that
if time could change back
I wish I had started talking to him, right from the beginning
before all these happened
back to when I was little

I'm sorry

disclaimer: today's post consist of many photos

today I had a shopping date out with Marlene
it is always a special day when I meet Marlene because we rarely meet (only once every few months)
and usually we always go on shopping dates
so today, as usual, we went to bugis
it was a good time shopping because I found 3 dresses that is so cute (and all lesser than $20!)
then we went to cotton on to buy 2 shirts
side note: the cotton on tags are so pretty!
then we went to Art Friend, and to eat at Hans in NBL
took this photo together (side note: Marlene is so pretty today!)

Next is a few pictures from previous dates with SJVJL/ family
first two pictures are from the date with SJVJL to Food For Thoughts in Botanic Gardens
next two pictures are from the date with my parents and grandma in Coffee Bean

catching up with friends

POSTED ON: Friday, 14 March 2014 @ 10:10 | 0 comments

Tonight was quite a fun night out with a bunch of my upper sec classmates
I was late for an hour, and felt very guilty and embarrassed, since I was the one who invited some of them //bows head in embarrassment
side note and reminder to self: I owe the girls a drink and an ice-cream

we sat down in two separate tables because the service was bad and I have no idea why they couldn't move us to the unoccupied big table inside the restaurant
and since my table was all girls, we had the girl talk
and surprisingly, love was in the air!
half of us was already attached
and some was a shocker
(i totally wouldn't have expected them to get attached in this crucial year of A levels
haha
well, this shows that love triumph all hurdles)

after dinner, most of us sat down and talked for a bit
it was such a pity that I couldn't personally chat with my besties
well, there's always a next time //sighs
then most of them left, leaving only a handful of us to talk
we talked about school
about relationship problems
about CCAs
it was good to listen to others' life updates!
and learning about how JC is so stressful and how hard it is to get A grades made me thankful that I was in Poly and at least I know that if I put in constant efforts, I could get good grades

it was saddening to hear that after such a long time of not seeing my besties,
their lives weren't all that great
of course, each of us has our own problems
but even the strongest have hard-to-solve problems
and there's nothing I can do except to sit down, listen to them, be empathetic and give some advice
in a world where everything is perfect, I'd have a magic potion that can cure anybody's problems
too bad in this world, no such thing exist //deepsigh

overall today was a pretty good day
I haven't had such a good time since a long time
and I'm glad that after so long, everybody is still willing to gather around and have a nice meal and catch up :')
may there be more of this next time!

I cannot stress how much I love ATC and Kurt Schneider <3

a small mixed-update on my life

POSTED ON: Monday, 10 March 2014 @ 08:30 | 0 comments

today's post comes in 6 small parts

1. Work
ever since I've started work, I've been so overwhelmed and distracted with work
(that is, distracted from my holiday goals such as reading etc.)
within this 2 week period, I've already changed my job //cries laughing
For the first job, I worked for 4 days at a gift shop in Rivervale Mall
and the job was terrible
I was ordered to do everything inside the shop
and was verbally bullied by the boss's grandma (who had no business doing in the shop except for watching me like a hawk and scolding me for nothing of my fault)
I did all that I had to do: mend the cashier, clean the whole shop from top to bottom (literally, from the high walls to the floors), reorganise the entire shop (because it was a huge mess and the boss was lazy to tidy up the products he was selling in the shop), and serve the customers
after the 3rd day working there, I felt so bullied from the grandma that I called for help from huiyan (it was extreme bully okay, don't judge me for quitting my job!)
so she introduced me to her boss, and I got a job!
so on the 4th day, I informed my former boss that I couldn't continue working for him
and a few days later I started working as a perfume consultant! (that's a better work title rather than "perfume promoter")

On last tuesday, I started working in Anchorpoint (at queensway btw, damn far from punggol)
I was arranged to work at the roadshow of the company
and I was damn happy to get the job because the people were nice to me at the new work environment
I got to meet a lot of different types of shoppers
and I was praised that I'm good in promoting our perfume products //gleams with pride yo
even though I kept complaining about how far the work place was and how tired I was everyday after the 12 hour work shift, I am so glad that huiyan introduced me to this job
best thing yet, this job pays 140% more than my previous job ^^

side note: after working for 5 consecutive days as a perfume promoter,
my nose is becoming so sensitive oh gosh
but on the bright side
I found some perfumes which are so nice smelling
especially the Calvin Klein range of products!
and especially this product:
CK Be

one of the best scents ever!
//eyes start sparkling

2. Spending time watching shows
every day after work
I would be so tired that I couldn't do anything 'cept to watch shows
and believe me, I've been stuck to my laptop whenever I have free time
I've rewatched half of The Big Bang Theory, and I've watched half of 2 Broke Girls
and even though I can feel my time being wasted away
I still feel that watching shows is worth wasting time for
here's a mini show/movie recommendation based on the shows/movies I've watched this holiday

(1) The Big Bang Theory
(2) How I Met Your Mother
(3) Rise Of The Guardians
(4) How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
(5) 2 Broke Girls

3. Friends
I've been so occupied with work and stuff that I've been neglecting my friends :(
I've not seen the band for more than a month
and truth be told, I kinda feel very disconnected to them
true, distance makes the heart grow fonder. but distance also makes the souls less connected
I've been busy, and the 3 of them are all busy
I kinda don't think the band/covers can work out this holiday :(

4. MH370
the incident(?) has no direct relation to me
but somehow, it affected me more than the people around me
it seriously scares me how an entire plane can just disappear
and I am damn damn scared right now
probably because I have a sister who's overseas right now
and she have to sit on a plane to get back home
and probably because soon, my grandma will be travelling out of Singapore to Macau
and it scares me to even think about this: "what if my family member was on a plane that disappeared?"
I think it feels so scary because the incident(?) happened so close to home
I mean, I don't think i'd be this affected if it happened somewhere in north pole or something
but the truth is that it happened when a plane was on the way to China from Malaysia
and the professionals don't even know where the plane is yet, and how it got missing!
what if it happens to me?
what if it happens to people around me???

5. Pizzas
okay this is very random and weird
but is it weird that I don't like pizzas, like at all?
recently I've been seeing so many people eating pizzas,
(that includes my parents)
and that got me thinking,
"is pizzas really that good? cause I honestly do not like to eat pizzas"
hmmm
maybe I'm just weird like that

6. CSOP
booyeah CSOP is coming, and we've been sorted into our tribes!
I'm in XMEN! //fanfares
I was in X-men last year, so it feels good that I'm back in my tribe!
embarrassing story: when we first got informed about our tribes
we only knew the colour of our tribe
and I was in blue
and since last year blue was Teen Titans, I thought I would be in Teen Titans this year
and I started tweeting
and confidently telling my friends "blue is teen titans!"
then when the news came that I was wrong
I felt so embarrassed, no joke
but well, the embarrassment made me feel even happier to be in X-men
no logical reason of why that's so
(and now I'm not making any sense anymore)
well.. time for me to start rewatching all of the X-men movies!

sidenote: crap I missed 11:11 again >:(
I feel like the heavens is playing a joke on me
cause every single time that I miss 11:11, I'd catch 11:12 or 11:13 or 11:14
:( I could really use a wish right now
wish right now
wish right now
//starts singing

today's song is radioactive,
covered by Kurt Schneider <3 and the Macy Kate Band
(that band is so cool like ohmygosh I wanna be like them)

for years (14 years to be exact) I've went to saturday classes,
where I've learnt about buddhism, about the ways to be a good person and to fulfil my roles as a human being (be it daughter/ granddaughter/ sister/ friend/ etc.)
I've went since I was 4 (2000)
and now, at 2014, I've officially stopped going to the class (let's call it temple class for now)
I left there because everything has changed, and there was no meaning for me to continue on there
So many of my memories and knowledge were formed there
the temple class has made me who I am now, and I am deeply grateful for the people and the experiences I have met and formed there

one thing to emphasise though, is that the temple class did not only teach about buddhism
they emphasised GREATLY on traditional chinese teachings (refer to confucianism)
and I have to say, learning traditional chinese teachings is a 99% factor of what and who I am today
Traditional chinese teachings have nothing to do with religion
you can be a buddhist and learn traditional chinese teachings
you can be a christian and learn traditional chinese teachings
you can be a free-thinker/ hindu/ muslim/ -insert whatever religion you can think of- and learn traditional chinese teachings
and since learning traditional chinese teachings have impacted me so much
I am 100% willing to share my experiences and knowledge to others out there

you, at this point, might be thinking
"what is she talking about?
ugh traditional chinese teaching? I might as well be bored to death"
well..
no
the way of teaching traditional chinese teachings isn't only the old school listen-to-the-teacher-drone-for-hours lessons anymore
and this post is to explain to you a new way a group of us youths are trying to spread traditional chinese teachings out there to other people (be it old, young or youth; but right now we are targeting youths)

first, a back story
when I was in the temple class
I got the opportunity to go for a camp ran by a group of youths from NTU
they had this amazing camp that was filled with fun activities and tbh is by far one of the BEST camps I've ever went
during the camp we learnt about traditional chinese teachings
and it impacted me (and everybody else who participated in the camp) so much that to this day (10 years after the camp), I can still remember many of the activities that we did, and the lessons that we learnt!
[think TCP Camp + red camp + LAC = the camp I'm talking about]

fast forward a few years
the batch of us grew up, and slowly one by one each of us left the temple class
but Kiwi (one of the organisers of the previously mentioned camp) didn't want us to leave without having nowhere to go
and by somehow
our youth group (that's what I personally call us, but we don't really have a name for ourselves yet, except for CLF, which will be explained later) formed
we all came together, and decided that we want to spread the word about traditional chinese teachings to the people out there, starting with youths
and slowly by slowly,
we decided to organize a camp!
[this camp is named Camp La Familia, thus CLF)

So an organising committee was formed
a group of us
some to design the camp
some to look for sponsors and logistics
some to train to be group leaders for the campees
it was a legit organising committee for a legit camp!
and to start off (because we haven't done this before), our target group was the youths from my temple class
so after a few months of hard work
CLF happened
many many sweet memories formed
our mission was accomplished for CLF
everybody had fun, and everybody learnt more about traditional chinese teachings WHILE having fun!
with that success, all of us were psyched to continue doing this every year

the following year (last year)
we were all prepared for CLF2
but on camp day itself, the damn haze happened, so the camp was cancelled
kinda a really big bummer
(i think I blogged about this in this blog or my previous blog??)
but that's already in the past, and the haze wasn't something we could control

so that brings us to NOW
CLF3 IS HERE
//fanfares
we've just kicked started the planning process of CLF3
and this time, this camp is even bigger!
our target audience is now people from the temple class AND students from Tanjong Katong Sec AND students from CDAC AND the public
YES
the PUBLIC
so that's kinda a really huge deal right now
this year I'm the group leader again
and i'll be the choreographer for the mass dance
//cues dancing songs and hip hop moves

so what's the point of this post?
well..
since CLF3 is a big deal now
we had to allocate more people under the programming committee and publicity committee
and now we have a shortage of people to be group leaders
so dear friends, if you wanna have some fun planning camps and gaining leadership (well not only leadership, but a lot a lot of other) experiences, and if you wanna meet a group of friendly fun outgoing and sincere people
do join us in planning for this camp! (and if you like, all subsequent camps and activities to raise awareness of traditional chinese teachings!)
contact me if you wanna join
cause tbh I think we're really lacking manpower?
and don't worry, the commitment level isn't something that one can't handle
we usually schedule GL trainings on weekends, and it is a TON of fun, and you really don't have to do much except to be there to have fun
and have I mentioned that we're lacking of manpower?
so do consider and contact me if you wanna join me to a whole new experience that you might never have if you miss this chance! :)
or you can just contact me if you wanna know more :)
[emphasis: trust me, this camp is very fun and meaningful
and did I mention that this camp has nothing to do with religions? it is purely on traditional chinese teachings]

here's a big thing to take note
the language used in this camp is English
which means even if your chinese is CMI
you can still join us
cause we communicate and learn in English
cool yo: you don't really need to use chinese to learn about traditional chinese teachings haha

if you've read till here, I am so thankful for you spending your time reading this long post
//a flood of tears of touched-ness
this camp and this group of people means a lot to me, and i'll like to share what I've learned from them to you
this is a sincere invitation for you to join me in impacting the youths out there
//smiles brightly at you

here's a song about having a good life yo
